01 Chapter / 8
Real Token Budgets and Complete Packing Contracts
If the documents fit, does the complete context still fit after adding instructions, source metadata and an output reserve?
Learning Objectives
- Use the freezer to sequentize context
- The joint budget set aside to induce input and output
- Different calibers for character, byte, word and service template are recognized
02 Chapter / 8
Selection and Truncation with True Incremental Costs
If the first evidence item is too long, should we stop, skip it or reconsider the remaining candidates?
Learning Objectives
- Construct three comparable evidence selection baselines
- Keeping a strict budget with heavy coding costs without falsely describing global excellence
- Verifying Unicode's security cut may still lose answer support
03 Chapter / 8
Faithful Compression: Source Text, Qualifications and Fallbacks
If compression removes a qualification from a fact, how can we detect the loss and return to the original?
Learning Objectives
- The source states that the same local security conditions are assembled.
- Retain original line numbers and summaries without fictional linguistic guarantees
- Trigger the true full-text retreat with a qualifier.
04 Chapter / 8
Versioned Memory: Activation, Revocation and Replay
A notice is published, takes effect and is later revoked. Which version should a query about a historical date see?
Learning Objectives
- Delineate determination of state uniqueness for prefixing events
- Distinguishing between the order of changes and the operational validity date
- Borders between certification services, summary chain and source authentication
05 Chapter / 8
Retrieval and Fusion: Rank Evidence from Source Documents
When retrievers use different score scales, how can we merge rankings without treating rank values as answer confidence?
Learning Objectives
- Calculating Characters and Snippet Words by Item
- To deduce RRF and its tectonic and confidence boundary
- Recapitulate the real list of fixed version and filter order
06 Chapter / 8
Grounded Answers: Visibility, Citations and Conflict Gates
If a fact exists in the database but is absent from the actual context, can the system use it to support an answer?
Learning Objectives
- Verify the real claim by field, not just the numbering.
- Distinguishing database support from actual background visibility
- Executing Export Budget and Conflict Refusal to Confirm
07 Chapter / 8
Evaluation and Faults: Preserve Every Failure
Why can a cited answer within budget still omit required fields or become incorrect after a failure?
Learning Objectives
- Joint evidence for calculation of status, support and coverage
- Resume 108 strategy contrasts and locate head failed
- We need to separate the real and visible path from the side way by deleting the evidence.
08 Chapter / 8
Complete Delivery: Run and Modify from a Clean Directory
After importing a new notice, how do we verify that budgets, versions, citations and replay after reopening remain consistent?
Learning Objectives
- From CLI to the complete chain of answers.
- Complete durability, reopening, citation and unwinding of closed rings
- Freezing of evidence and independent packaged course projects
Context Engineering
Select information, organize memory, and manage an agent’s context budget.

Scope and Experimental Limits
Eight lessons start with reproducible UTF-8 byte BPE and build a document event store, date-specific views, lexical retrieval fusion, complete JSON context packages, deterministic cited answers, and automatic validation. The project reads Markdown, writes SQLite, and replays after reopening. Eighteen fixed tasks and 108 policy comparisons retain conflicts, expiry, truncation, and head-selection failures. The default generator is an auditable field-extraction program. Remote LLMs, semantic vector retrieval, and general semantic compression remain untested or unimplemented.
Use one original set of club documents to implement real token budgets, evidence selection, faithful compression, versions and validity periods, persistent memory, citation support, and failure evaluation.
